From the "Top 25 Global Smart Glasses Display Manufacturers in 2022" by Tide Electric Intelligence, we can see that Chinese manufacturers such as BOE, Visionox, and Quntron Optoelectronics have formed a rivalry with foreign manufacturers such as Sharp, LG, and Sony.

 

 

In the top 25 list, Chinese manufacturers account for 65% of the global smart glasses display market half, but the Japanese and Korean manufacturers in this field of technology accumulated deep, its shipments can not be underestimated.

 

In China, the most manufacturers of its production display is located in Jiangsu, followed by Anhui, Beijing, Yunnan, Guangdong, the overall distribution is more even.

 

Public data show that the annual revenue of AR/VR screens will reach $9.3 billion in 2027. And predicts that by 2025 LCD will occupy the largest share of shipments, silicon-based OLED (SiOLED) will become the dominant technology.

 

Interestingly, the LCD screen, which is now outdated in the cell phone, is widely used in smart glasses, and AMOLED screens are not popular.

 

One of the advantages of AMOLED is that it can achieve high pixel density. So the 5.5-inch panel in the Pico Neo 3 Link also has more pixels per inch than high-end AMOLED smartphones.

 

However, AMOLED will return with the launch of the Sony PlayStation VR 2, which will be an all-time high for mass-produced AMOLEDs.

 

To further miniaturize optics, a wide range of manufacturers are focusing on Micro OLED. although the term is not clearly defined, Micro OLED usually refers to a small OLED display with very high pixel density.

 

In the face of the declining LCD market, smart glasses will be a new opportunity to turn around, now that Samsung has abandoned the LCD business, LG Display is still struggling, and Chinese manufacturers will have a promising future.
