Sunnygrow (300274.SZ) will provide 264MWh of liquid-cooled energy storage systems and medium-voltage transformers for the Umoyilanga project in South Africa.

The project is the first wind-solar-energy-storage integrated virtual power plant in South Africa, which is a collaboration betweenSunnygrowand French renewable energy group EDF Renewables.

The Umoyilanga project consists of two independent power plants. One is a solar plus storage plant located in Avondale, and the other is a wind plus storage plant located in Dassieridge, both 900 kilometers away from each other.

The project utilizes only the PowerTitan liquid-cooled energy storage system, which greatly increases the percentage of renewable energy consumed. At the same time, the configuration of cutting-edge virtual power plant technology, to achieve long-distance cross-regional energy coordination and scheduling, to improve the stability of regional power supply, to meet the needs of the power grid. It is estimated that after the project is connected to the grid and generates electricity, it can produce nearly 400 million kWh of clean electricity per year, which can satisfy the annual electricity consumption of 120,000 households.

When connected to the grid, the project will help alleviate the power crisis in South Africa, improve the stability of energy supply and provide a demonstration of the development of renewable energy in South Africa.

As one of the world's largest power supply service providers, EDF Renewables has previously cooperated with Sunny Power on a number of projects around the world, including the Al Dhafra 1.5GW photovoltaic project in the United Arab Emirates, the 127MWh energy storage project in Israel, etc., with the projects covering a number of mainstream clean energy projects in the global energy markets of Europe, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific and Africa.

As the biggest brother of China's energy storage industry, Sunny Power actively expands its global production capacity and channel layout, has built more than 20 branches overseas, and has established cooperative relationships with more than 280 certified authorized service providers and important channel partners, with its products being sold to more than 150 countries and regions around the world.

In January 2023, Sunnygrow successfully obtained the grid connection license for the Coria 135MW ac PV + storage project in Spain, which is an important breakthrough in Sunny Power's power plant development business in Europe.

On October 30, 2023, Sunnygrow signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hive Battery Development Pty Ltd of Australia. In the next three years, Sunny Power will provide PowerTitan large-scale liquid-cooled energy storage systems with a total capacity of 3GWh for the Hive project.

At present, the company has six R&D centers in Hefei, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Germany and the Netherlands. The capacity of its overseas plants has reached 25GW, of which 10GW and 15GW are produced in India and Thailand respectively. In addition, the company has built more than 20 branches overseas and established cooperative relationships with more than 280 certified authorized service providers and important channel partners, and its products have been sold to more than 150 countries and regions around the world.

Looking ahead, the company will continue to deeply cultivate the global market and orderly promote the globalization layout of PV inverters, energy storage systems, power plants and water surface photovoltaic business.

Sunnygrow's energy storage shipments reached 5GWh in 2023, up 152% year-on-year, and it realized revenues of $8.5 billion in the first half of the year, with overseas business accounting for more than 80%.

As of June 2023, the company has accumulated more than 405GW of global inverter equipment installed capacity, and in the field of energy storage, the company has been ranked first in CNESA's "2022 China Energy Storage Enterprises Ranking" for seven consecutive years, and has been awarded ees AWARD, the international battery energy storage award.

In the first three quarters of 2023, Sunnygrow's revenue totaled 46.415 billion yuan, an increase of 108.85%; net profit of 7.223 billion yuan, an increase of 250.53%.
