When it comes to the speed of new product releases, VR veteran Meta is faster than its future rival Apple.

Mark, CEO of Facebook parent company Meta, revealed that Meta will launch its new virtual reality headset in October, and in the past, Meta will hold its Connect VR conference in October. And according to analysts, Apple will release its first VR device early next year, which means Meta will steal Apple's step.

Recently, Meta's metaverse platform Horizon Worlds went live in Spain and France, and Meta's metaverse expansion took another important step. To celebrate this important moment, Meta CEO Zuckerberg posted a virtual selfie of himself on Facebook with a virtual version of the Eiffel Tower and the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in the background.

However, in a recent podcast, Zuckerberg said that Meta's next-generation virtual reality headset will offer new features that will help users have a "social presence" experience. According to him, future digital people in the virtual world will be more vivid and interactive. Although Zuckerberg did not mention the name of the virtual reality headset.

But he is likely referring to the product currently codenamed Project Cambria. The price of this headset is at least $800, much higher than the current Meta's flagship Quest 2, which ranges from $399 to $499 for different models. However, Meta has also recently raised the price of the Quest 2 due to the continued rise in logistics and production costs.
