Six months after the release of Apple's Vision Pro, it has taken a substantial step toward the consumer market.

According to interface news reports, the core of the consumer electronics supply chain revealed that Apple will officially mass-produce the first generation of MR products Vision Pro in December this year, and its hardware cost is roughly 1,700 U.S. dollars.

Mainland China's supply chain is still Apple's most reliable partner, and the cost share of Vision Pro has been substantially increased to about 60%.

The company with the highest share is Leader Smart, which exclusively supplies heat sink modules and headbands, eyecups and nosepieces, with a value of $250-$300 per unit; followed by Lucent Precision, which exclusively assembles them on behalf of the OEM, with a value of $150-$200 per unit.

It can be seen that the two companies in the Vision Pro business supply level is not a conflict, and even for the upstream and downstream cooperation relationship.

In September of this year, Wang Laichun, chairman of the board of directors of Lucent Precision, said to the public that it was preparing for the production of Apple Vision Pro, and the device will be available early next year.

In October, Apple CEO Cook visited China for the second time in the year and visited the Lucent Precision factory.

Leader Precision has not publicly commented on the situation regarding Apple MR. According to an interface news report, Lead Smart has recruited thousands of people and prepared dozens of production lines at a factory in Changping, Dongguan, in the second half of this year.

The report also further revealed the shipment plan of Apple Vision Pro: the first batch of about 400,000 units in stock, with a sales target of 1 million units in 2024 and 10 million units in 2026.

According to earlier news, Apple had expected the device to sell 1 million units in the first year, but due to the complexity of the design and production difficulties, Apple had to cut the target production in half, reducing it to 400,000-500,000 units.

Foreign media The Information has pointed out that the manufacturing process of Vision Pro is extremely complex. For example, the front of the headset is made of a piece of thin curved glass, and for aesthetic reasons, it needs to hide more than a dozen cameras and sensors. Assemblers had to manipulate tools and install components at awkward angles, and it took much longer to test the glass casing and cameras than other Apple devices.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said to expect a slight delay in the Vision Pro headset's release, which "will be available sometime around March next year."

Chaodian Intelligence learned from the industry chain, after Apple first released the Vision Pro in June this year, the market's response was not as warm as expected, in particular, the general feeling of "expensive", and therefore made corresponding adjustments in the production of stock and product strategy.

Mark Gurman wrote that Apple's current goal is to release a cheap AR/VR headset by the end of 2025. In the meantime, the company is also working on a new version of the Vision Pro, which has a faster, better-performing processor built in.

Meta, the leader in the XR space, had already launched a VR headset before Apple launched the Vision Pro. A new report suggests that Meta has been working with LG to create a new VR product. Zuckerberg is not optimistic about the Vision Pro and has resolved to compete with the competition.
