Recently, the COB development team of the Automotive Imaging Module Division under the First Optical Business Group of LianChuang Electronic successfully obtained AEC-Q100 certification for its 8M Chip-on-Board (COB) packaged products. This milestone establishes the company as the first 8M automotive camera manufacturer in the industry to receive this certification, demonstrating the reliability and stability of its automotive COB packaging technology. The breakthrough provides global OEMs with higher-precision, more reliable ADAS camera solutions.
Compared to traditional BGA processes, the newly certified COB packaging technology demonstrates significant performance advantages: adopting a "purchased wafers with in-house packaging" model shortens delivery cycles by 1-2 months versus traditional outsourced packaging/testing; packaging precision improves from the 100μm-level in SMT processes to 10μm-level with COB technology, ensuring more stable image capture; larger chip bonding area enhances thermal conductivity and heat dissipation; while structurally achieving monolithic surface-contact packaging between the sensor and PCBA, balancing miniaturization trends with high integration. Furthermore, this product has simultaneously passed AEC-Q100 component-level certification and DV/PV module-level reliability testing standards, being fully adapted to complex automotive environments.
As an IC reliability standard established by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC), AEC-Q100 is regarded as the "gold standard" in automotive semiconductors. It encompasses rigorous tests including temperature cycling, high-temperature aging, and humidity resistance, serving as the critical benchmark for product stability and durability. Currently, automotive COB packaging remains in the technology adoption phase, with only a handful of companies achieving AEC-Q100 certification. LianChuang’s pioneering certification not only seizes market opportunities but also drives industry-wide standardization and quality transformation.
