As Huawei's stylish imaging flagship, the P series has been the center of attention in the optical supply chain.

 

 

 

After Huawei's strong return to the high-end cell phone market, the revelations about the P70 have been coming one after another from October 2023 onwards.

 

 

 

Comprehensive news from all sources indicates that the P70 will basically be released at the end of March, and it is fully favored by professionals. According to Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, "This is Huawei's next major milestone product and Huawei's most powerful imaging flagship, and sales will even far exceed the Huawei P60."

 

 

 

 

 

In the latest news, two camera module designs for the P70 were revealed: one is a rounded rectangle module, the size of which has become much wider compared to its predecessor, the P60, with three lenses in a triangular arrangement; and the other is a triangular module, with the lenses arranged in a triangular fashion.

Huawei's P70 series is also said to have two options for its main camera, the OV50H and IMX989, which should also correspond to different models.

 

 

 

Among them, the P70 will be equipped with a domestically produced super-large-bottomed main camera, the OV50H, with key specifications of 1/1.3-inch optical size, 50 megapixels, 1.2 μm per pixel, support for physically variable aperture, as well as a 48-megapixel ultra wide-angle macro lens and 48-megapixel periscope telephoto lens; and support for 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. There are a number of high-end flagships that use this sensor in their standard models, such as the iQOO 12 and Honor Magic 6.

 

 

 

The P70 Pro and P70 Art will be upgraded to a 1-inch mega-bottom primary Sony IMX989 with a 50-megapixel resolution, support for OIS optical stabilization, as well as higher optical and digital zoom capabilities, and the same support for physical variable aperture.

 

 

 

It is also worth noting that the Huawei P70 series main camera is expected to adopt a 1G+6P glass-plastic hybrid lens to bring stronger deformation resistance.

 

 

 

The G+P glass-plastic hybrid lens has the advantage of being highly shorter on the application side, and the production cost gap with the 8P lens is gradually shrinking, which is expected to be a powerful addition to the image of high-end smartphones in 2024.
