The rapid development of intelligent connected vehicles will make automotive intelligence a key focus for car companies for a long time to come. The intelligent car infotainment system plays an important role in this and is gradually gaining popularity among more and more consumers, even becoming a necessary condition for purchasing a car.

Earlier, NIO's new brand Firefly with the same name was launched, marking the official launch of the first cooperation model between Horizon Robotics and NIO. The Firefly brand is positioned in the field of intelligent electric high-end small cars, but its visual perception configuration is not inferior to high-end models.

According to public information, Firefly Firefly comes standard with Horizon Journey computing solution, 128 TOPS computing power, 11 intelligent assisted driving cameras, and 13 high-performance perception hardware. The intelligent navigation assists NOP coverage of 99% of highways and urban expressways, and automatic parking in all scenarios, directly targeting narrow parking pain points.

The Tide Electric Think Tank learned from the intelligent automotive industry chain that its ADAS front view/surround view/rear view and surround view modules are exclusively supplied by OFILM; In the lens section, the ADAS front view lens is provided by Sunny Automotive Optics, while the rest is also supplied by OFILM. OmniVision provides the onboard CMOS chip for Firefly Firefly, indicating a high degree of compatibility between OFILM and NIO in intelligent driving cooperation, which is rare in other intelligent driving systems.

In the previous dismantling of the visual system for NIO ET7, up to 8 optical suppliers were used, but Firefly only used 3 suppliers. This also indicates that the difficulty for traditional optical design manufacturers to transition from the mobile phone and security markets to the automotive market is not as high as for new players, so it can support such a rapid entry into the supply chains of major car companies.

Tide Electric Think Tank believes that in the future of intelligent vehicle assisted driving systems, the market share will move closer to traditional optical design manufacturers, and car manufacturers will also begin to conduct factory audits and product selection actions against other in car optical manufacturers. Some second tier manufacturers may emerge.
